Living in Hong Kong, over the years I’ve visited Macau many times, typically with a few years in between (see my old itinerary from over a decade ago). Almost every time I visit I’m surprised by the contrasts of how on one side it keeps changing fast with new casinos and tourist attractions, and how on the other side they still maintain and improve the old charms.
It’s such a tiny place and yet I somehow manage to keep finding new things to explore and see with each visit. Like it or hate it, it’s definitely interesting and something worth seeing.
In 2024 I came by to visit the University of Macau and combined it with a long week to see more of the nearby Coloane area that has a nice mountain top Tin Hau temple and statue, fairly decent beaches, wonderful colonial charm areas with Portuguese food, and, ofcourse, the casino insanity of Cotai.
