Some time ago I lived in the Clearwater Bay area, over on the eastern side of Hong Kong, with easy access to lots of amazing beaches and hikes in Saikung. One of the most accessible beautiful hikes I did quite a few times was High Junk Peak Country Trail and in the past year returning back to hiking all around Hong Kong I made my way back to that trail, twice, and both times it was spectacular and brought back great memories.
We start with a steep incline…
But fast enough you reach the top with some grand views of the Saikung area…
With mostly shaded walking areas, with some expat wildlife…
At some point you can decide whether you want to make it up to the peak or cut left towards the beaches…
At the end of the road is an old Tin Hau temple with an inscription dating back centuries…
And piers overlooking to the south…
And then, if you want, you can make your way to the nearby Po Toi O fishing village for lunch, with your typical aquarium selection of seafood…
and lots of seafood…
