This year in between East Asia and Europe, I made a stop in Northern America, starting from west coast United States, down to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and then back up to the east coast United States. In the west coast, I flew in to San Francisco and lingered for a few days. I had very fond memories of San Francisco but I had very strong mixed feelings about the current visit. San Francisco is still a gorgeous city, with great culture and arts, and generally a lot to offer, but it’s a struggling city, battling serious issues in some of the central areas, that impact travel and tourists. I got to experience it all, the good and the bad, the easy and the challenging. Overall, I summarize this as a very good visit, though I’m not sure I’ll be in a hurry to come back. When I do, I hope the city will find a way forward and overcome the current mess.
