In one of my northern Hong Kong stays I was looking for something new and exciting to do, having done most of the hikes in that area, when I came across the GoGreen Pineapple and Alpaca farm. That seemed, well,
Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre is a hidden gem I only discovered recently. I came across Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre when browsing the Google Maps for Sha Tin looking at possible observation points. I was curious and after a
On and off I spent over 5 years living in Hong Kong. It’s where I lived the longest out of my home country, and it therefore has a special place in my heart. This summer was the first time I
When people think of the history of Hong Kong they usually don’t think much further than mid 19th century, but the heritage trails in Hong Kong will take you back in time as far as the 13th century. The first
Hong Kong has a number of large art events year around. The largest of those are the Hong Kong International Art Fair (see my visits in 2009 and 2011) and then there’s Art Basel. For some unexplained reason I managed

Blogging, photographing, twittering and all that weird tech online stuff we do, how… Read more »
Sorry for not being too clear – I meant the gathering of photographers to shoot them during the events is what’s strange and that I’m not really a fan of it as a photographer. If I stumble across one, I’ll probably shoot for a while, but wouldn’t go out of my way to go to one. To me, it’s easier to just shoot a model. Each to their own though – I know some people love it.
Craig – oh, I misunderstood 🙂 I see your point. Well, I think many of the photographers there come to “find work” and socialize. I got a few business cards and checked out some of their work which was quite remarkable. Cosplayers have their own social websites, their own magazines, merchandise, fashion, stores, restaurants etc. so some photographers can make a good living just by focusing on that niche. I think there’s also a darker side to the whole thing with the more adult related Cosplay industry and I sometimes get the feeling some of the photographers there are hunting… Read more »
