Kending (/Kenting) in southern Taiwan has a lot to offer, with gorgeous white sand beaches and fun local culture attractions. When Taiwan just opened up after the pandemic quieted down a bit, I visited Taiwan for a month starting in Taipei, then a couple of weeks in Kaohsuing, and to wrap things up I rented a car and traveled around Kending. Because of the pandemic, there was almost no one around. An area typically considered a busy tourist destination was super quiet, and I had the whole of southern Taiwan for myself. Aside from the obvious, there are also some funky attractions in Taiwan, and the Luo Shan Feng Recreation Area is a good example, with some interesting public art exhibitions on the beach and the local culture center. A great place to stop for an hour or two to chill and wander around to catch beautiful art installations with the very scenic ocean meets mountains background.
