I keep running into Banksy in various places in the world. At the beginning it felt more of an underground thing, but in recent years the artist has made it mainstream in the world stage and so exhibitions and media-art shows keep popping up across many locations in the world. In one of my recent visits to Dubai I caught a 30-minutes video art-work covering his many works which I thought was brilliant.
So, when visiting Frankfurt I saw that the “Art of Banksy – without limits” exhibition was showing, and decided to come in and have a look. It was well worth it. For the first time I got to really dive in deep to understand how this started, the scope and scale of Bansky’s work and the movement that it started. The exhibition covers all of Banksy’s work with explanations about the context and controversy, combining all forms of art. I lingered for very long and enjoyed every part of it.
Let’s take a walk through the exhibition…
